Overview of the Action Plan

The Suehn Industrial Academy Alumni Association developed this action plan to restore and reopen Suehn Mission after years of destruction caused by the Liberian civil war. Through this effort, the Association aims to protect the institution’s legacy, rebuild its facilities, secure its property, and create new opportunities for future generations of students.

The action plan focuses on the following key areas:

  • Public Awareness and Outreach

The Association will raise public awareness about the condition of Suehn Mission and the ongoing restoration effort. Using radio programs, social media, newspapers, and community engagement activities, the Association will reconnect with alumni, supporters, and friends of the institution while encouraging greater participation and support.

  • Site Clearing and Property Protection

The Association will clear the overgrown campus and reopen roads and pathways within the mission property. These efforts will improve the appearance of the campus, protect the land from encroachment, and prepare the site for future development.

  • Launching the Restoration Initiative

The Association will organize a major public launch to bring together alumni, stakeholders, supporters, and national leaders. Through this event, the Association hopes to strengthen unity among alumni, build momentum for the project, and raise support for the rebuilding effort.

  • Office Space and Administrative Support

The Association will establish office space and acquire the equipment and furnishings needed to support meetings, planning, communication, and daily administrative activities.

  • Engagement with the Foreign Mission Board

The Association will work closely with the Foreign Mission Board to discuss the institution's future and strengthen collaboration on the restoration effort. These discussions will help establish a shared understanding of the Association’s role in supporting and helping manage the mission.

  • Property Re-survey and Boundary Protection

The Association will work with legal experts and the Liberia Land Authority to conduct a re-survey of the mission property and clearly establish its boundaries. These efforts will help prevent further encroachment and protect the land for future development.

  • Website Development and Communication

The Association will develop a professional website to improve communication, visibility, and outreach. The website will provide information about the mission, alumni activities, fundraising efforts, restoration updates, and opportunities for support and engagement.

  • Architectural Planning and Reconstruction Costing

The Association will work with architects and engineers to prepare building designs and cost estimates for rebuilding Suehn Mission as a modern vocational and academic boarding institution. These plans will guide reconstruction efforts and strengthen fundraising proposals to donors and development partners.

  • Government Engagement and Support

The Association will engage the Government of Liberia and seek support from both the Executive and Legislative branches for the restoration and reopening of Suehn Mission.
